This Privacy Policy explains how GIF BG ("GIF BG," "we," or "us") collects, uses, shares, and retains information when you visit or use the GIF background removal service. It applies to information processed through this website and its related features.

Information we collect

GIFs and processing details. When you upload a GIF, we receive the file and process it to analyze or remove its background. The service also handles technical details needed for processing, such as file dimensions, frame count, selected background color, and processing mode. GIFs are not added to an account or permanent file library.

Account information. If you sign in with Google, Supabase authentication provides an account identifier and available profile details such as your name and email address. We use the account identifier to associate your credit balance and payment event records with your account.

Purchase information. When you buy credits, Waffo processes checkout and payment information. We receive information from Waffo about the order and payment event, including the event identifier, product or credit amount, and account identifier needed to confirm the purchase and update your balance. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

Technical information. The website and its hosting or infrastructure providers may process standard connection and request information, such as IP address, browser or device details, requested pages, and timestamps, to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the service. When hosted on Vercel, GIF BG uses Vercel Web Analytics to measure page views and general website usage. Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies. GIF BG also uses Google Analytics to measure website usage; Google Analytics may use cookies and process information such as page views, browser or device details, and interactions with the website.

How we use information

We use information to provide the requested GIF processing, authenticate users, maintain credit balances, verify and reconcile purchases, prevent duplicate payment credits, protect the service, troubleshoot failures, and comply with legal obligations.

How information is shared

We share information with service providers only as needed to operate the service:

• Supabase provides account authentication and database services for account and credit records.
• fal.ai receives individual GIF frames when you request AI processing for a complex background. GIF BG sends frames for that processing and retrieves the resulting images. fal.ai's own privacy terms and retention practices apply to information it processes.
• Waffo provides hosted checkout and payment event information. You interact with Waffo when completing a purchase, and its own privacy terms apply to payment information it processes.
• Google Analytics helps us measure website usage and may process analytics information on our behalf under Google's privacy terms.
• Hosting and infrastructure providers may process information needed to deliver, secure, and maintain the website and its services.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or in connection with a business transfer, subject to applicable law. We do not sell personal information.

Payments

Credit purchases use Waffo's hosted checkout. Waffo may receive your email address, account identifier, selected product, and payment details to complete the transaction. GIF BG receives payment event information needed to verify a completed order and add credits. Payment card details are handled by the payment provider and are not stored by GIF BG.

Browser storage

The sign-in client stores your authentication session in browser storage so you can remain signed in. If you continue to sign in or purchase credits after selecting a GIF, a temporary copy of that GIF is stored in your browser's IndexedDB so it can be restored after the redirect. The app removes it when restored or on the next app visit; files older than two hours are not restored. You can also clear this data through your browser settings. Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies, and GIF BG does not use advertising cookies.

Data retention

Uploaded GIFs are processed in memory by GIF BG and are not intentionally saved to an account or permanent file library. For AI processing, frames are sent to fal.ai and may be retained under fal.ai's policies and service configuration. Temporary browser copies used to resume sign-in or checkout are removed when restored or on the next app visit; stale copies are not restored after two hours and are cleared when the app next checks for a pending file.

Account and credit records are retained while needed to provide the service. Payment event records may be retained for accounting, legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution. Browser authentication data remains until you sign out, clear browser storage, or the session otherwise expires. Hosting and infrastructure providers may retain technical logs under their own operational and retention practices.

Security

We use reasonable measures designed to protect information processed through GIF BG. No website or electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your account and device.

Your choices and rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information associated with your account, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You may sign out or clear browser storage to remove the locally stored authentication session. GIF BG does not currently provide self-service account deletion.

To make an account or privacy request, contact the service operator using the contact details provided with your account or purchase communications. Include the email address used to sign in and describe your request. We may ask for information needed to verify that you control the account. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. We may retain limited records when required or permitted by law or reasonably needed for payment reconciliation, security, or dispute resolution. Closing an account removes access to its credit balance; unused credits are not transferable, subject to any refund rights required by law.

Children's privacy

The service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the service, contact us using the details provided with your account or purchase communications.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the service or applicable requirements change. The current version and its last-updated date will be published on this page. Where required by law, we will provide notice of material changes.
